Layers! In order to survive in the cold it is important to wear either very warm clothing or lots of clothing; an incredibly thick jacket or several regular jackets.
Sunblock! Don't try to be tough... the violent sun rays are made stronger by clouds, and sun rays are also reflected off snow, so what doesn't hit your face from the sky, will burn you from the ground. Tents! Important for any chance of survival is shelter. Tents are an easy, transportable, compactable item that can protect against the elements. Through our trips it sure has kept us from getting drenched from rain. Sleeping Bags! Think it's cold up there during the day? Wait until the sun goes down! You need a sleeping bag that has built in material that will keep you warm at night. These can get expensive so make sure to be prepared. Water! We usually bring our own water, as being a cold environment like the one seen above it may be frozen. And as we are sure you know, water is imperative to survival. Bathroom Break! There are no bathrooms in wilderness. That's right, no lovely white bowls of clean water for you. If you have to go #1 simply find a spot where you may feel comfortable going away from where you eat. If #2 you should try to dig a 6in whole in dirt and aim as best as you can. You can usually find dirt around the trunks of trees. |
In HOT environmentsSunblock! Being in a desert ofcourse means that there is lots of sun, therefore it is important to use sunblock and reapply as directed by the product.
Water! Due to the intense sun of the desert, the human body sweats to stay cool. The body uses its own reserve of water that it gets from the water you drink. Try to bring your own water, it is a desert after all. Bathroom Break! It's extrememly important to use the bathroom, because there isn't one out there, one must be made. Make a whole in the ground about 6 inches deep and a few wide and aim as best as you can. The color of your pee can also tell you how well hydrated you are, the clear it is the more hydrated you are. Hats! Sunblock can protect from damage but a visor or hat of some sort goes a long way to protecting your face and neck. |
In the Forest
Water! Even if you camp near a water source, you should still bring your own reusable water bottle. If you want to use thus source for drinking you must first purify it by boiling the water or using a purifying pump or using some chemicals like iodine.
Tents! Bring tents for shelter if you prefer not being vulnerable to most of the elements of nature. Look back to the tips of how to survivi in the desert to see how to pitch a tent.
Sunblock! It's still important to bring sunblock, just in case.
Poison plants! There are things to be aware of to make sure you don't squat in something that will leave red rashes and itches. Like Poison Ivy and Oak. And other assortments of plants and things not okay to eat. Before you go traveling in a forest-like place, make sure to do some research on some of the native dangerous plants that would be in that area.
Bug Spray! Camping means that you would be in the wild. In the wild there are even more tiny insects than there are inside your home, so if you don't enjoy being bitten by mosquito or other bugs then it is suggested that you bring with you some bug spray.
